At least 13 people lost their lives after a truck laden with 33,000 litres of petrol lost control and rammed into three vehicles in the Kirikiri area of Lagos State. It was learnt that about six buildings were affected by the fire which started around 10p.m. on Tuesday.
Our correspondent, who visited the area on Wednesday morning observed the Sterling Bank, which is located at Berger Suya Bus Stop was severely burnt. The Public Relations Officer, National Emergency Management Agency, South West Zone, Ibrahim Farinloye, said the agency recovered nine bodies.
He said, “The fire was put out around 1.04am by a combined team of the federal and state fire service. “We have about nine casualties. It involved a petrol tanker which had an accident and its content spilled. It affected four houses and four commercial buses.”
