PRESIDENT JONATHAN SACKS SULEIMAN ABBA, APPOINTS ARASE AS ACTING IGP
President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has relieved the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba of his appointment and duties with immediate effect.

President Jonathan has also appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase as Acting Inspector-General of Police, also with immediate effect.
Until his appointment as Mr. Abba’s replacement, Mr. Arase was the Head of the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department.

Mr. Arase holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Law, as well as  Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Political Science and Strategic Studies.
He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Defence College.

Ongoing Reforms in Customs Service will enhance Regional Trade and boost Security - President Jonathan

ONGOING REFORMS IN CUSTOMS SERVICE WILL ENHANCE REGIONAL TRADE AND BOOST SECURITY – PRESIDENT JONATHAN

President Goodluck Jonathan said Tuesday in Abuja that in addition to enhancing regional and continental trade, ongoing reforms in the Nigerian Customs Service will also boost security in the country by helping to curtail the influx of illegal small arms and light weapons.

Speaking at an audience with the visiting Secretary General of the World Customs Organization, Mr. Kunio Mikuriya, President Jonathan said that the reforms were necessitated by the need to re-define the core values and operations of the service.
