BREAKING Barriers: A Autobiography (Diamond Communications Network, Abeokuta; 2015) is the title of the autobiography of Mrs. Modupe Abibat Adekunle who retired from the Ogun State civil service on September 30, 2015, upon her completion of the statutory 35 years in service.

Amosun rubbishing my legacy, says Daniel

A former governor of Ogun State, Mr. Gbenga Daniel, has berated Governor Ibikunle Amosun for rubbishing all the “good works” he did during his tenure between 2003 and 2011.

Daniel, who is being prosecuted for financial impropriety by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, told journalists at his Mende home in Lagos on Tuesday that the Amosun administration had failed and he was working hard to ensure that Amosun did not win a second term in 2015.

He boasted that during his tenure, he built roads and awarded contracts to only indigenes of the state but Amosun had not built a single road but was only expanding the existing ones. He said the Amosun administration had incurred debt to the tune of N300bn in less than four years.

Amosun weeps for Prisoners in Ogun

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun on Thursday broke into tears at the pitiable sight of inmates at Oba prison in Abeokuta.
Amosun, who had earlier granted amnesty to 15 inmates at Ibara prison also in Abeokuta, could not hold back his emotions at Oba prison over what he described as the “inhuman condition” to which the inmates were subjected.
The governor was informed that majority of the 492 inmates on awaiting trial list at the prison had spent between four and seven years in jail.
He ordered immediate medical attention for the inmates with critical medical conditions and directed that others should be taken to the hospital.

Durojaiye leads Ogun state delegates to confab

Gov. Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state on Thursday in Abeokuta named six delegates that would represent the state at the forthcoming National Conference.

They are: Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Latter Rain Assembly, Mr Fola Adeola, Sen. Biyi Durojaiye, the Olu of Ilaro,Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, Prof Titi Filani and Mr Bisi Adegbuyi.

Amosun said South-West states appointed, Sen. Iyabo Anisulowo, to represent the region’s senators, while the presidency appointed, Mr Olaniwun Ajayi, as one of the 37 elder statesmen.

Amosun explained that the delegates were appointed from the three senatorial districts of the state.

He said that the delegates, who would be led by Durojaiye, would among others focused on decentralisation of police, devolution of power and true fiscal federalism at the conference.

Amosun slashes land document fees

Home and land owners in Ogun State have gotten what could be described as Christmas gifts as Governor Ibikunle Amosun slashed land title fees from N430, 000 to N100, 000.
Before the generous reductions, a building approval cost N275,000; survey plan was N60,000, stamp duty was N45,000 and the C of O was N50,000.
The new land title regime tagged Homeowner’s Charter now provides a sharp reduction in the cost offering building plan at N20,000; survey plan N20,000, stamp duty N20,000 and C of O N35,000.

Amosun, Fashola mourn Islamic leader, Abdul Lateef Adegbite

Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, and his Lagos State counterpart, Babatunde Fashola, have expressed sadness over the death of the Secretary-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Abdul Lateef Adegbite.

The Islamic leader and Baba Adinni of Egbaland died in a Lagos hospital of an undisclosed ailment aged 79.
His death reportedly threw Abeokuta and Egbaland into fresh mourning, coming on the heels of the demise of two prominent Egba sons, Chief Oluwole Adeosun and Chief Segun Taiwo.

40,130 OOU ex-students awaiting certificates for six years

About 40,130 graduates of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, have yet to be issued their degree certificates six years after they graduated from the institution.

According to the institution’s authorities, the graduates left the university between 2005 and 2011.

Consequently, the authorities have concluded arrangements to ensure that the five sets of the Ogun State Government –owned university would be handed over their certificates at the institution’s forthcoming convocation.

The acting Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Saburi Adesanya, stated this on Thursday while addressing journalists in Abeokuta.

According to Adesanya, the university has now concluded plans to present the certificates  to the graduands at the  ceremony billed for between October 8 and 9.

The acting Vice-Chancellor, however, said, the university had not admitted more than the number of students permitted by law.
