BMW Bulletproof Car Scam : At last, EFCC Quizzes Stella Oduah - PUNCH

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday  quizzed a former Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah, for over five hours at their  Idiagbon House headquarters   in  Abuja.

Investigation revealed that Oduah  arrived at Idiagbon House around 10am and left at 3.30pm after being granted a provisional bail.

An EFCC   source said   the former minister was   asked questions and thereafter asked to   make  a statement that could aid the  commission’s ongoing investigation into the purchase of two BMW bulletproof cars by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority at a controversial sum of N255m.

"There's an average of nine aircrafts fixed here in the hangar," says Peter de Waal of ExecuJet Aviation Nigeria, looking across at a line of sleek jets, as a team of engineers works on them.
ExecuJet provides a hangar and is authorised by major aviation companies to provide maintenance services for business aircrafts, attesting to the rapid growth of the private aircraft industry in Nigeria.

"Maintenance was done in Europe and the United States, but our services here can help save time and an enormous cost," Mr De Waal told the BBC.

Cargo Airplane Mishap Aviation Agencies, Firms Count Loses Over Abuja Airport Closure

Airlines, aviation agencies and service providers in the aviation industry are counting their losses following the closure of the Abuja airport to traffic following the aircraft incident involving a Saudi Arabian B747 which overshot the airport runway on Wednesday night resulting in the closure of the airport to traffic.    “The airport has been closed to all arriving aircraft following the incident,” the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) said in a statement yesterday.  

In response to the shutdown directive, all domestic airlines had cancelled their flights into the Abuja airport, just as international flights going into Abuja were diverted to Lagos.  

Arik Air Suspends Operations

Arik Air, Nigeria's biggest airline, Thursday morning suspended all flight operations throughout the country.

Although details are still sketchy, the airline is believed to have taken the action because of some differences between it and Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
