STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE PRESIDENT JONATHAN TO INAUGURATE FLOOD RELIEF COMMITTEE, BEGINS TOUR OF AFFECTED STATES TOMORROW

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will at 9 am tomorrow, Thursday, October 11, 2012, in the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, formally inaugurate the National Committee on Flood Relief and Rehabilitation which he has established as part of measures by the Federal Government to provide urgent succour and relief to victims of devastating floods across the country.
The Committee which has Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Mr. Olisa Agbakoba as its Co-Chairmen has been given the responsibility of raising additional funds to support ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to ensure the provision of adequate relief to flood victims
 and effective post-impact rehabilitation of affected persons and communities.
All Members of the Committee are expected to be seated in the Council Chambers by 8.30 am in readiness for their inauguration by the President.
Immediately after the inauguration, President Jonathan will embark on the first-phase of an inspection tour of states affected by the floods.
In the phase of the tour which begins tomorrow, President Jonathan will visit flooded parts of Kogi State, Anambra State, Delta State, Bayelsa State and Rivers State.
