25-year-old Okagbare beat Jamaica's veteran athlete Veronica Campbell-Brown and Kerron Stewart who won the silver and bronze respectively. Campbell-Brown finished at 11.02 seconds while Stewart finished at 11.07 seconds.
“A season's best, a win - I'm just happy I was able to pull it off. After 70m it just felt easy.” Okagbare told BBC Sport.
Okagbare is the second African to win the Commonwealth Games Women’s 100m title since Nigerian Mary Onyali-Omagbemi won in 1994.
In addition to short distance races, Okagbare also does long jump and triple jump. She won the bronze medal for the 200m race in Moscow in 2013.
There are a total of 37 Nigerian athletes at the Commonwealth Games this year.
